TMD: NO Paella for YOU

TMD: NO Paella for YOU

Two Minute Drill: NO Paella for YOU

What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill. Today’s topic of conversation is kindness and persistence. I am in Valencia, Spain right now. A fun fact about Valencia, Spain, is that it’s the birthplace of Paella. I don’t remember ever having Paella before because I’m not a fan of a bunch of stuff on a plate together; I’m a food separator.

Kindness and Persistence

My hotel told me to go to this place called Casa Carmella, which is down by the beach. I went there yesterday at one o’clock, wanting to have some paella. They were like, NO, and I was like, huh? They said, “No, we have no room for you!” The guy outside said, no room. I asked, “when can I eat?” He told me to come back at 3:30 that day.

I sat outside waiting for someone to bring me at least some water or a beer, but nothing! About 10 minutes went by. I walked inside and explained to the hostess, “Hola, I’d like to have some Paella or some food and I was told I could come back at 3:30.” I was literally talking this fast to her in English, and she said, “Nomas”, giving me the hand. She didn’t want to have anything to do with me.

So, I stood there, and she went and got one of her colleagues who spoke English. I explained the situation, “I was told I could come back at 3:30. I just want to make sure I have a spot.” I was being very nice and polite, and I apologized to the hostess.

The hostess told me I could sit at the bar, but they don’t allow paella at the bar. No soup for you, no paella for you at the bar. I was hungry and wanted to eat. I sat at the bar. It looked like a nice restaurant, and I figured I’d have a good meal.

A nice woman from Madrid sat down next to me eventually. She ordered not the paella, but what they called “soupy rice”. It was like paella, rice, seafood, and all this other stuff, all mixed together.

She was very nice. I looked at her food and she looked at me. She asked if I wanted some, and I said, “Si?” She gave me some of her paella. So, I had paella in Valencia.

The moral of the story is, I was just being as nice as I could to the hostesses, who were really the gatekeepers about whether or not I could eat anything. They let me sit at the bar and I was able to eat some Paella in Valencia.

When you’re running into some challenges with people, just be nice. Put a smile on your face, be persistent when you really want something, and hopefully, you’ll get your paella.

That’s my fun story from Valencia. You guys have a great week and I’ll talk to y’all next week.

TMD: Research, Play, and Monetize

TMD: Research, Play, and Monetize

Two Minute Drill: Research, Play, and Monetize

What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill. Today’s topic of conversation is RPM. R stands for research. P stands for play, and M stands for monetize. RPM, around what? RPM, around AI, around Artificial Intelligence. We’ve obviously been hearing so much about AI and all these tools like ChatGPT, and it’s important that we actually get in the game.

Leveraging AI

Let’s start with R. How do we research some of these tools? There’s a great site called futurepedia.io, It is basically a catalog of a multitude of artificial intelligence tools and sites that exist to help us in our businesses and in our lives.

P, once we’ve researched these sites, we can just play. Go to these sites, type in prompts, and think about questions that you want answered, whether it’s personal questions or business questions. Be as creative as you can be. Just try it, do stuff, play like you’re a kid with these tools, and see what comes out.

Then lastly, M identifies ways to monetize. Maybe it’s about creating a blog, finding the best ad copy for a social media ad, and creating content for a newsletter that then refers that potential patient or customer to a landing page. There are ways to leverage these tools so that you can actually monetize what you’re creating.

Artificial intelligence is just a tool. It’s a tool that can be used to leverage your creativity exponentially, advance your creativity, and ultimately create huge dividends for your practice and your life.

Research, Play, Monetize. That’s this week’s Two Minute Drill.

You guys have a great week and I’ll talk to y’all next week.

Two Minute Drill: AI & Healthcare: A Conversation with Mark Abla

What’s up Kaizenovators, happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill. Today I’m with my very good friend, the CEO of the Illinois Chiropractic Society, and on the leadership team for the Chiropractic Future Strategic Plan. This week’s TMD is all about AI and emerging technologies in health care.

A Conversation with Mark Abla

Dr. Jay: In today’s Two Minute Drill, I have the pleasure of speaking with my good friend, Mr. Mark Abla. How has your week been, Mark?

Mr. Mark Abla: Hey, it’s great to be here. It’s been a fantastic week.

Dr. Jay: We’re currently at the HIMSS Conference, which has attracted about 20,000 people. Mark, what has been the most impactful aspect of the conference for you?

Mr. Mark Abla: It’s been amazing to see some of the connectivity for generative AI and what it’s going to do for healthcare, what it is doing for healthcare, as well as interoperability, the keys to coordinated care.

Dr. Jay: What’s amazing is that this whole AI thing is literally just getting started. Our moderator who was fantastic, for this session this morning, was talking about the fact that things that are happening today weren’t even possible, two, or three years ago. I think what’s going to happen is we’re going to see even more massive change. How do you think that affects patients, Mark? How, how is this going to play a role in improving care?

Mr. Mark Abla: As long as we continue to keep patients at the center and focus on outcomes, it’s going to create some economies of scale, some true things that can help us inside the practice, improve outcomes, and just do better.

Dr. Jay: And the advice that I give to healthcare providers out there, really anybody who’s interested in technology is to Learn about it and just go and play with this stuff and just see what happens. You know, use your creativity, then apply, and the things that really create impact for you when you apply them, ultimately have a great impact on your business, your customers, and your patients. Any final words from you, Mr. Abla?

Mr. Mark Abla: I completely agree with Jay – just jump into technology. It is critical for your practice, efficiencies, and future profitability.

Dr. Jay: Thank you, Mark, for sharing your insights. That’s all for today’s Two Minute Drill, and we’ll talk to you all next week!
