Four Questions to Transform Your Life


What’s up Kaizenovators, Happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill. Today’s topic of conversation is questions. This past weekend, the ChiroOne leadership team asked me to speak at the Rising Tide Summit event at Cleveland University. I was happy to speak to the students and planned to use a regular presentation I’ve delivered many times at several chiropractic colleges and universities—however, this time I wanted to change it up. 

Why, What, Who, and How


I didn’t just want to talk about the logistics and mechanics of entrepreneurship; I wanted to delve more into the human aspect of the entrepreneurial journey. My topics of conversation were Why? What? Who? and How? I thought these questions were particularly relevant for this discussion. 

I’m going to share them with you, and maybe you’ll want to do the exercise and answer some of these questions. 

My first question is, “Why do you exist?” It’s about our personal mission statement. When I thought about it for myself, I hadn’t done that exercise in several years, and it was interesting and thought-provoking to answer that question. I encourage you to answer it too: Why do you exist? 

The second question is, “What do you know about yourself?” This is all about self-awareness. You’ve heard me talk about this before, all the standardized assessments that you can use like Myers-Briggs, Strengths Finders, and there’s a PDP assessment that Chiro matchmakers have which is awesome. There’s also the Johari Window, which discusses what you know about yourself and what others know about you, where you can find your blind spots. There’s the Grit Assessment as well… So, what do you know about yourself? It’s about developing greater self-awareness. 

Who? “Who do you surround yourself with?” You are at the center of your universe, as we all are. We’ve got our concentric circles of influence. We’ve got our family and friends in the inner circle, the people we work with, and our broader network. Sometimes there’s a lot of intermingling of those circles, but who do you spend your time with? Jim Rohn said, “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Who you spend your time with is important. Are you spending time with the right people who are propelling your life forward? 

Lastly, “How?” The mechanics of how. How are you going to achieve your goals? I’ve talked about this in other TMDs. You set a goal, then you want to ask yourself three to five HOWs. How will I do this? Okay, how will I do this? Essentially, you’re reverse engineering goal execution. 

What was interesting is I put this process through ChatGPT, and that AI tool gave me a thorough way to go through the five HOWs. It was exciting that I used technology to augment what I was already doing in my own brain and come up with new ideas and solutions to achieve goals. 

These questions are important: Why do you exist? What do you know about yourself? Who do you want in your life to elevate you? How will you accomplish your goals? 

If you answer these questions, you’re going to be happy, healthy, and your life is going to be great.
