Two Minute Drill: Setting and Achieving Goals
What’s up Kaizenovators, happy Tuesday Two Minute Drill, the first one of 2023. Today’s topic of conversation is about setting goals. I know it’s incredibly cliche for the beginning of the year, you often hear people say let’s set some goals, let’s write some stuff down and then we fail to ever look at them again.
For me, I have worked hard over the last couple of weeks thinking about my goals for the upcoming year, I have divided them up into personal goals, health goals, financial goals, work-related goals, and even fun goals like travel. This has been an important journey for me specifically because I understand that in order to have the year that I want to have in 2023, I need to be very intentional about the things that must get done in order to achieve the results.
I have been listing out my goals and I’ve been identifying the HOWs. If you’ve seen some of my TMDs related to setting quarterly goals, you’ve probably seen this before, but asking the question, how am I going to do this? How is that going to get done? And then how is that next thing going to get done over and over and over again, three to five times in order to ensure that I clearly understand exactly what it’s going to take for me to get to the goal.
I have also been setting aside time on my calendar, intentionally blocking time so that I can do the things that I need to do for my health, my mental well-being, my work, my fun, and my personal life.
I am going to encourage you to do the same thing. Take some time, sit down, think about what’s important to you in your life, and set aside the time necessary in order to ensure the things that need to get done to achieve the goals, get done.
It’s a worthwhile exercise. Make sure you do it. It’s all about setting and achieving goals in 2023. That’s this week’s Two Minute Drill. Looking forward to an amazing year with y’all.
